When designing a room, what are your three favorite categories of fabrics currently in our showroom?

Performance Fabrics are always a stylish and practical option, and Scalamandré’s are among my favorite in this category. Aldeco Wovens offer excellent texture and pattern, the Cut Velvet’s offer a bit of luxurious glam and an impressively large selection.

Are you more pattern or plain in your design selections?

The base fabrics of most of my projects are primarily unpatterened, this acts as a canvas that I can then layer with patterns which I adore and find essential to finishing most rooms.

What are your three favorite colors at the moment that you seem to be designing more with?

I’m having some fun right now redoing my own apartment in a range of blues and teals – it had previously featured greys and blacks in suiting-type fabrics. I remain a perennial fan of greys and browns but my current indulgence is a shot of purple or aubergine.

What are the three categories of wallpaper that you are drawn to the most?

Contemporary mural wallpaper is very appealing to me, I recently did a lovely entry foyer in Jackson Hole with a mountainous abstract mural. Textured wall treatments are also a strong point for me, and whenever possible I always adore hand painted papers and just added one to my own entry foyer ceiling.

Who is your favorite pet from all the projects you have worked on? How have you somehow incorporated this pet into your design?

One of my best clients from Greenwich, a family with two sets of twins, always had an adorable menagerie of pets, but if I am allowed to say so, my favorite project with a pet is my own. Until recently, and for many years, I had two Kerry Blue Terriers from the same litter and they were the heart of my home. Adorable and loving as they were, their coats also worked in near perfect harmony with my décor and my wardrobe, which has a certain appeal for an interior designer!

Can you share an anecdote that symbolizes a day in your life?

One of the most wonderful things about interior design is that no two days are the same. I’ll be designing a large living room one day and then on the way to a site visit in Miami the next. It has been one of the greatest gifts of my life to never be bored with how I spend my days. My expectations each day are often upended from the moment walk through my office door. I’m eternally grateful to this profession and the amazing clients who have allowed me to hone my talents in service of improving their homes and hopefully their lives.
