Silk was first reserved for Chinese royalty and for nearly 3,000 years the Chinese had global monopoly on the silk production and kept its secret safe from the rest of the world. The demand for this exotic luxury fabric created the lucrative trade route, known as the Silk Road, bringing silk westwards and gold, silver and wool to the East.

Now centuries later, the Scalamandré Silk Wallcovering Collection enables the interior design community to elevate any space with the ultimate symbol of luxury and elegance. The natural appearance of silk, complete with its irregularities is determined by many factors but mainly the type of caterpillar, habitat and reeling method. Even today, silk is still a true artisanal product, in which almost all steps in the production process are still done by hand, a craft passed on from generation to generation.

Aditi Crush is full of character, ambience, vigour and vibrant colors, just like the home country of silk, India. This open-weave silk offers a lot of texture and surface interest due to the variance of weft yarns used and therefore never fails to impress. Each item is a unique piece due to the nature of the raw material. In case of the crushed items, the unpredictable crush lines create an optical illusion; what seems so irregular and bumpy is in reality completely flat.

A stain repellent finish prevents water based splashes to stain the material. Such a splash will bead up on the surface and can easily be removed by gentle blotting.
