Scalamandré presents the Calabria Collection, an array of luxurious textiles inspired by the Italian heritage and homeland of company founder, Franco Scalamandré. Franco’s father was a textile importer from Calabria, a southern Italian region well known for its lush landscape and ancient settlements of monasteries and castles. On the occasion of our 90th anniversary, we retrace Franco’s steps to take inspiration from the area’s natural beauty and history of traditional design.
The Calabria Collection is a curated selection of statement prints and sumptuous wovens celebrating the spirit of Scalamandré in updated hues, classic textile techniques and archival patterns reimagined for today’s interiors. Couture-inspired color palettes breathe new life into traditional weaving techniques, like matelasse and lampas. Classic cotton is featured in two special plains — a moiré in fourteen fabulous hues, and a feather-soft plain-weave in perfect neutrals. A bold stripe and plaid are calendared for subtle sheen, and pair beautifully with the collection’s new florals. This diverse offering pays homage to our storied brand with a renewed look at classic motifs.

PEONIA LINEN PRINT
Adapted from an archival document, Peonia Linen Print features climbing boughs, curling leaves and peonies in full bloom. Named for the Greek god Paeon, this lush flower grows wild in Europe and has been a staple of Italian gardens for centuries. Painterly details and rich ground hues add character to our interpretation of this timeless floral. Digitally printed on a 100% linen ground, Peonia Linen Print enlivens a pair of occasional chairs, or add poise to sunroom windows.
A cotton blend rib weave is calendared, or pressed through high-temperature rollers, to create the subtle, marble-like striations of Riva Moiré. This finish, which harkens back to medieval times, essentially crushes areas of the fabric to create an elegant, shimmering surface. The moiré effect changes depending on the angle, and due to the nature of the process, the effect is non-repeating and more obvious in some colorways than in others. This striking plain is available in fetching hues from jewel tones to nuanced neutrals.
Oversized and off-set, Modo Plaid offers a tailored take on prep-school plaid. Woven in a blend of cotton and linen with a small amount of nylon for strength, the fabric is then calendared for a subtle sheen. Offered in six spirited colorways coordinating with Strada Stripe, Modo Plaid makes for classic club chairs or a smart upholstered headboard.
Clean lines and crisp hues create the stately columns of Strada Stripe. This up-the-roll stripe is calendared for a silk-like sheen. A fine blend of linen, cotton and nylon make this dual-purpose fabric well suited for both window treatments and residential upholstery. Strada Stripe is available in regal hues that coordinate with Modo Plaid.
Vibrant bouquets of Lily of the Valley create the grand ogee layout of Antonella Lampas. A lampas is a traditional weaving technique wherein weft yarns “draw” on the fabric’s surface with minimal influence from the warp. These weft floats offer crisp color and subtle texture in the pattern’s finely rendered stems, leaves and blossoms. Antonella Lampas offers classic luxury and perennial style as statement drapes or light upholstery.
Camille Damask features a large-scale woven damask with a subtle, distressed effect. Lustrous warp satin combines with textured wefts to create luxurious drape and a polished hand. This special casement brings quiet elegance to the window in signature, nature-inspired colorways.
This classic chair-scale pattern was interpreted from an archive fabric produced at the original Scalamandré mill in Long Island City. Reinterpreted on a cotton sateen warp, we are proud to offer this updated version woven in Pennsylvania. Ideal for sofas, benches or dining room chairs, this timeless go-with upholstery fabric is available in a fresh two-toned palette.
ALMA SILHOUETTE PRINT
Scrolling vines of flowers and fruit began as a small-scale archival design enlarged many times over to create the abstracted profile of Alma Silhouette Print. This full-width design is hand-printed on a yarn-dyed cotton plainweave, brushed for a soft touch and supple hand. The union of tonal coloring and subtle texture lends this dramatic pattern a renewed sense of style and modern appeal. Offered in tonal colorings coordinating with the plain basecloth, Fresco Brushed Cotton, Alma Silhouette Print would make memorable statement drapes or chic slipper chairs.
Delicate arcs of crimped yarn create the scalloped edge of this archive-inspired braid. This delicate braid layers beautifully against a signature Scalamandré design like Alma Silhouette Print. A testament to the timeless look of Scalamandré trims, this unique style has gained a new life in fresh, updated colorways.
TESORO PRINTED VELVET
Inspired by the cracked plaster walls of an Italian villa, Tesoro Printed Velvet offers distressed texture with a touch of a glamour. Matte and metallic prints are hand-applied to cotton velvet to create a layered effect. Upholstered on a slipper chair or hung as Roman shades, this transitional semi-plain complements both modern and traditional spaces in metal-inspired colorways.
VIONNET BEADED FRINGE
Luminous, translucent glass lozenge beads create a fringe that catches the light and adds sophisticated polish to drapery edges or shades. The palette includes both pale and deep mineral-inspired shades.
