The ascent to the Polop Castle in the Marina Baja region takes us into a long history of conquests and reconquests. Polop is a cotton-linen blend with wide stripes that emulate this ascent. This fresh, delicate and discreet thousand stripe fabric takes its name from the Levante wind that rises from the Mediterranean Sea. Its two shades are unified by alternating thin lines, creating a charming faux-smooth sensation. The Sierra Bernia, a mountain range and natural border between the Marina Alta and Marina Baja, gives its name to this striped two-tone fabric. This fabric is named after the Algar River, which comes to an end in the city of Altea. On its route from the nearby Sierra de Ferrer, it stops at the well-known Fuentes del Algar. Beautiful threads of water in everlasting strands fall down the steep rocks, thus inspiring the fine white stripes within this sheer, each one a mere two inches from the next. This double-width woven becomes fundamental to filter and regulate the light coming in through your windows.
