Sandberg
Le Village pays homage to the Béarn village Montfort and its petit stone château, home to the talented interior designer, writer, and photographer Sara Silm. The collection also celebrates the connection between the Swedish royal family, the region, and Sandberg as a purveyor to the royal court. It's here that today's King Carl XVI Gustaf's origins can be traced to Jean Bernadotte, who was born in the region's capital city Pau.

SCROLL TO DISCOVER
Have you ever dreamt of escaping to the French countryside, discovering the lush green foothills of the Pyrenees? Imagine the tinkle of sheep bells as a shepherd guides his flock down a shaded avenue of ancient Sycamore trees. And lazy afternoons spent picking figs in an orchard by a mountain stream.
BEATA The simple details of country flowers set in a scallop shell motif form a subtle pattern that creates intimacy without being too visually demanding. The scallop shell is a symbol of the pilgrim, worn on the rucksacks of hikers that pass through the Béarn region on the famous Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St James.

BEATA STORY
RAPHAEL - MURAL Reminiscent of the lush oak forests of the Pyrenees, Raphaël will embrace you in the calm of a leafy canopy. It was inspired by French 18th century Gobelin tapestry. Its bold scale will create intimacy and drama, perfect for creating a chateau-style backdrop in any home.
RAPHAEL - MURAL STORY
DAPHNE This whimsical design was based on an original Parisian Domino wallpaper from the late 19th century. Stylized fruit, flowers and foliage form a joyous tangle of color and pattern that will lift the mood of any room it's in.
DAPHNE STORY
HUGO This hand painted Domino design was once the cover of a French book about the discovery of America published in 1781. The simple floral and geometric pattern evokes cherished memories of an old paper-lined dresser in a French country kitchen.
HUGO STORY
VALENTIN Dating back to the 1870s, Valentin was based on design from a very old and esteemed French wallpaper maison. The pattern’s three dimensional design is reminiscent of ancient gold-embossed leather, often used to line walls. Like the name suggests, this design calls for Champagne and chocolates.
VALENTIN STORY
ALEXANDRA Based on a hand painted Domino from France, Alexandra dates back to the turn of the 19th century. The vertical blooming stripes and upward swirling ribbons of pattern will create a sense of height in any room. Feminine, charming and unquestionably French like its namesake, Alexandra is named after the chateau’s housekeeper.
ALEXANDRA STORY
AMELIA The inspiration for Amelia comes from an old original from the 1800s found in a Parisian archive. Big graceful flowers and blossoming winding stems create a country-style floral pattern. The decorative design and its soft colors have a lovely romantic expression.
AMELIA STORY
MONTFORT A homage to Sara’s village of Montfort where sheep graze in lush pasture, Izard Antelopes roam the craggy peaks of the distant Pyrenees and Sara’s poodle Adelaide sits under the shade of the ancient oak tree in the field behind the chateau. A bucolic scene that takes you on an imaginary journey around a whimsical Toile de Jouy landscape.
MONTFORT STORY
FIG GARDEN If you were to enter the chateau’s kitchen in late summer, you’d be met with the heavenly aroma of confiture de figues, bubbling away in copper pots on the stove. As sunshine bathes the orchard, a bounty of violet-blushed figs grow fat and sweet, destined for the pot or simply eaten straight from the tree they’re a family favorite. This design captures the delights of the potager and orchard: figs, grapes and peas united in a tribute to the abundance of the seasons.
FIG GARDEN STORY
ANNABELLE Named after Sara’s daughter, the bold scale of this floral design exudes softness, warmth and romanticism. The delicate pansies in the design are symbolic of thoughtfulness. Pansies derive their name from the French word penser, to think. The fragrant Peony symbolizes love, happiness, romance and prosperity.
ANNABELLE STORY
ADELAIDE Inspired by the floral designs of French fabrics known as Les Indiennes. These exotic florals date back to the mid-seventeenth century when merchants living in Marseille imported them from India for the manufacture of clothing. They later became popular motifs for Domino papers, the precursors to wallpaper that were used to line traveling cases, furniture, hat boxes and books.
ADELAIDE
MIMI This delicate design was inspired by the wild violets that peek out of tiny cracks in Sara’s walled garden and weave their way throughout the chateau’s lawn in early Spring. Soft, feminine and a reminder of times past, it was named in honour of Sara’s grandmother, Mimi.
BENJAMIN.
MIMI STORY
TURTLEDOVE BARN Full of symbolic references to the Bearn: a crown to commemorate the birthplace of a Swedish king as well as a French King, Edelweiss, a flower synonymous with Spring in the Pyrenees and a symbol of purity and innocence, the hand so often seen as a brass knocker on the doors of Béarnaise houses and a Turtledove, the namesake of the chateau’s barn La Grange aux Tourterelles, almost never without at least one to adorn its roof.
TURTLEDOVE BARN
BENJAMIN Based on an old fabric design, Benjamin references the oak leaf, synonymous with Sandberg’s logo. The rhythmic twists and turns of branches adorned with exotic birds brings a joyous note to the design that’s guaranteed to brighten your day.
BENJAMIN STORY
ESTHER Esther was inspired by a hand painted original found in a Parisian archive. Reminiscent of old French homes, its complimentary border brings a touch of stately elegance to this feminine country-style floral. This Esther wallpaper has the colorway forest green.
