LE VILLAGE

WALLPAPER COLLECTION

Le Village pays homage to the Béarn village Montfort and its petit stone château, home to the talented interior designer, writer, and photographer Sara Silm. The collection also celebrates the connection between the Swedish royal family, the region, and Sandberg as a purveyor to the royal court. It's here that today's King Carl XVI Gustaf's origins can be traced to Jean Bernadotte, who was born in the region's capital city Pau.

Experience timeless and classic wallpaper with a unique expression that lasts over time.

A love story between Sweden and France

Have you ever dreamt of escaping to the French countryside, discovering the lush green foothills of the Pyrenees? Imagine the tinkle of sheep bells as a shepherd guides his flock down a shaded avenue of ancient Sycamore trees. And lazy afternoons spent picking figs in an orchard by a mountain stream.

BEATA
BEATA
The simple details of country flowers set in a scallop shell motif form a subtle pattern that creates intimacy without being too visually demanding. The scallop shell is a symbol of the pilgrim, worn on the rucksacks of hikers that pass through the Béarn region on the famous Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St James.

VALENTIN
VALENTIN
Dating back to the 1870s, Valentin was based on design from a very old and esteemed French wallpaper maison. The pattern’s three dimensional design is reminiscent of ancient gold-embossed leather, often used to line walls. Like the name suggests, this design calls for Champagne and chocolates.

MONTFORT
A homage to Sara’s village of Montfort where sheep graze in lush pasture, Izard Antelopes roam the craggy peaks of the distant Pyrenees and Sara’s poodle Adelaide sits under the shade of the ancient oak tree in the field behind the chateau. FIG GARDEN
FIG GARDEN
If you were to enter the chateau’s kitchen in late summer, you’d be met with the heavenly aroma of confiture de figues, bubbling away in copper pots on the stove. As sunshine bathes the orchard, a bounty of violet-blushed figs grow fat and sweet, destined for the pot or simply eaten straight from the tree they’re a family favorite. This design captures the delights of the potager and orchard: figs, grapes and peas united in a tribute to the abundance of the seasons.

ADELAIDE
ADELAIDE
Inspired by the floral designs of French fabrics known as Les Indiennes. These exotic florals date back to the mid-seventeenth century when merchants living in Marseille imported them from India for the manufacture of clothing. They later became popular motifs for Domino papers, the precursors to wallpaper that were used to line traveling cases, furniture, hat boxes and books.

MIMI
MIMI
This delicate design was inspired by the wild violets that peek out of tiny cracks in Sara’s walled garden and weave their way throughout the chateau’s lawn in early Spring. Soft, feminine and a reminder of times past, it was named in honour of Sara’s grandmother, Mimi.
